Bhakti Yoga is to give up the attachment with the World and replace it by the supreme love towards God.
The Narada Bhakti Sutra is an important source of Bhaktiyoga. In this Sutras Narada defines the Bhakti as,
“Naradastu tadarptitakhilacarata tadvismarane paramavyakulateti”
Bhakti is surrendering of all actions to God and forgetting everything because of extreme love with him.
According to Ramanujacarya, the founder of Visishtadvaita philosophy, the seven qualifications are necessary to get succed in Bhaktiyoga are,
1. Viveka - Discrimination in food.
2. Vimukha - Free from desire.
3. Abhyasa - Practice
4. Kriya - Habit of doing well to others
5. Kalyan - Good thought, work and
non-violence.
6. Anavasada - Cheerfulness.
7. Anuddharasa - Absence of excess
hilariousness.

According to Bhagavad-Gita, a Bhaktiyogi is superior compared to all other yogi’s. There are two types of bhakthi, they are
a) Ragatmika Bhakti: Here attachment with God is there. A bhakta can feel several levels in Ragatmika Bhakti, they are,
Stambha - Unable for movement
Sweda - Perspiration with surprises
Romancana - Total happiness
Swarabhanga - Can’t talk
Kampa - Trembling
Vivarnya - Change of colour
Ashru - Tearing
Pralaya - Conscious less state.
b) Parabhakti: It is the higher stage of Bhakti; this is the way of transient love. The higher stages of Parabhakti are,
Swarupa jnana - Knowledge of God’s personality.
Nirvikalpa Samadhi - Motionless identification of him
Paravairagya - Transient detachment of external World.
In Vishnu purana Prahlada describes several types of bhakti they are,
1. Sravana - Listening about the greatness of God
2. Kirtana - Praising the quality of God through singing.
3. Smarana - Remembering God regularly.
4. Padasevana - Worshiping the Gods feet.
5. Archana - Worshiping the God.
6. Vandana - Giving respect to him
7. Dasya - Considering as servants of God.
8. Sakhyam - Treating God as a friend
9. Atma nivedana - Self-surrendering to him
The results of practice of bhakthi yoga are as below,
Salokya - Understanding any thing as it is
Samipya - Being near to God
Sarupya - Having the same shape of God
Sayujya - Being one with the God; completely
merging with God.
